Journeys can result in a transfer, these journeys may either be physical, familiar or imaginative. In the movie Chocolat by Lasse Hallström umpteen characters including Vienne, Joshephine and the Mayer experience a journey in which a change is evident. Through observing these characters and the surprising changes which take place has definitely shown that journeys can result in change.
Vienne move from place to place by following the footsteps of her m other(a), whos ashes she unploughed with her constantly. She would move from village to village with the wind and followed it as though it was a human telling her when to move on. She opened up a chocolate shop in a circumstance village where her main inner journey takes place. She was always well-dressed and well-mannered, heretofore always looked out for everyone else and never took time to think or so her own needs. At the beginning of this story she doesnt lead in the town and the Mayer makes her feel so unwelcome that sight arent allowed to buy from her chocolate shop.
She is completely different from the tranquility of the town as it is traditional, quiet and extremely strict on religious beliefs. Where-as Vienne is free minded, with no religion and extremely colourful. Her young woman Anouk is bullied at school because her mother is different and Vienne begins to feel as though she doesnt belong. The wind starts to blow heavily crosswise the town and Vienne realises that it is time to move on, that she hasnt made both difference in the village and that she is hated.
