Skin Deep

My grandparents are both Puerto Rican born, and were raised in a humble farming village. When they found out they were pregnant with my father they dogged to pack up, despite their families disapproval, and look onk a new sluttish life in America. Neither of my grandparents knew a lick of position and had only a few hundred dollars to their name to pose their new family, hoping for their own version of an American dream. My grandfather open a small convenience store in the sulfur placement of gelt with a cramped apartment for his family in a flash above. He worked during the day at his store and went to a game school to learn English at night. He unperturbed takes pride in his heritage to this day, while my father on the other hand does not.

My dad was born in Chicago and was brought up speaking English while his family spoke Spanish and chose to speak only English. When we are walking in the metropolis people will come up to him speaking Spanish and he will just blankly stare at them until they finish and then nicely say he doesnt speak Spanish despite his appearance. My dads side of the family ostracizes him because he is different than them in every centering.



Most of his family works menial jobs and still lives on the south side in small houses while my dad went on to complete college and barter for a nice house in a safe and sound suburb for his family. My grandparents and Aunt all speak only Spanish make frequent visits to Puerto Rico and still follow the traditions assort with being Puerto Rican. Although my dad is one hundred percent Puerto Rican he does not associate with his decent and, to be blunt, acts desire a full-fledged Caucasian American. That is why I believe that subspecies is far more cultural that actually biological.

My dad doesnt see himself as a skin color like the people around him seem to. People will see him and automatically assume that he acts a certain way because of his appearance.
