Westward Expansion
From 1800s- 1860s the US expanded from the Appalachian mountains to the peace-loving ocean. This led to many great changes for many diverse peoples in the US. In the span of five years, the United States increased its sizing by a third. It telephone extensioned Texas in 1845; negotiated with Britain for half of the Oregon area; and acquired California, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming as a result of a war with Mexico.
