Universal Studios is the worlds largest film and tv Production Company, even if in the 1997 it spun off much of its television production. The Universal covers a multitude of entertainment ventures, including the production and scattering of motion pictures and music. The other Universal production includes book publishing, project promotion, two Universal Studios theme parks, earthly concernagement of six amphitheatres, and the licensing and marketing of products inspired of its films.
History
Carl Laemmle founded universal Studios in Chicago in 1912. In 1914 he bought a 230-acre ranch at the east close of the San Fernando Valley for $165,000, which was the worlds outgrowth film studio apartment created expressly for the production of feature-length films.
For the grand opening in 1915, Carl Laemmle invited thousands of plurality to visit the Universal City. He was the first one to grass a company open to the public.
The first Universals films were silent, but were very popular. The money won by those films were slavish in putting Universal on its feet.
Sadly, in 1929, Carl Laemmle named his son, cured of 21, as the director of the production of the Studio. The inexperience of the young man and with the difficulty of the Talked films brought the studio to important loose of money.
One category later, in 1930, they had to sale the entire studio to the Standard nifty Corporation. That brought Universal to have big names under contract. For the first 50 historic period Universal hardly ever surmisal film outside of its own 230-acre lot.
In November 1946 Universal merge with international Pictures to become Universal-International, with Universal Pictures Company remaining as the parent organization.
Decca Records acquired 28% of Universal-International in 1950 for $3.8 million. Within two years Decca had won controlling interest of the film company.
