During the American revolution of the 1860s, world of the African American in Northern America organize approximately 1% of the population. African American got single verboten due to their color since they arrived in America as slaves. etiolate people believed black people were inferior to them. Compared to other races, they got humiliated, enslaved and denied total rights by the whites. Moreover, by virtue of being considered as inferior, they were non allowed to vote. The laws enacted were also discriminatory against the blacks. The whites justified their actions by claiming that the laws of the state provided for the range of each race, and the status quo must be maintained at all cost. However, with time African American began to fight for their rights. They demanded to be treated fairly and equal as any other person of any other race (Ollhoff, 2011). African American have rebelled against injustices, gone on strikes and organized protests to fight discrimination and segregation in America.
For more than a hundred age since the United States of America acquired its independence, Africans Americans were still discriminated in Northern American and treated as second rate citizens. They were segregated, discriminated and lived in oppressiveness facing race inspired violence. Local and state laws, Jim swash laws, prevented the blacks from mixing with other races in theaters, classrooms, bathrooms, trains and buses. The supreme court of America in l954 struck down the separate but equal clause in the laws that provided for this form of segregation. The amendment drew local and worldwide attention to the situation that the black communities faced in Union America.
